Electro Technical Officer (ETO) Course
The following provides a general summary of the curriculum for the Maritime Academy’s ETO Course, which is comprised of a Theory Section, a Practical Section and an IMO mandated component. The curriculum for the ETO Course Program fully complies with the IMO’s Manila Amendments to the Seafarers’ Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) Code 2010.

Function 1: Electrical, electronic and control engineering at the operational level
Monitor the operation of automatic control systems of propulsion & auxiliary machinery

Function 2: Maintenance and repair at the operational level
Operate Generators and Distribution Systems
Operate and maintain power systems in excess of 1,000 volts

Function 3: Controlling the operation of the ship and care for persons on board at the operational level
Operate Computers & Computer Networks on Ships
Maintain & repair Bridge Navigation Equipment & ships communication systems
Maintain & repair electrical, electronic & control systems of Deck machinery & Cargo Handling equipment

Function 4: Instrumentation & Automation
Monitor the operation of Electrical, Electronic & Control Systems
Maintain & repair of Automation & Control system of Main Propulsion & Auxiliary machinery

Function 5: Practical Workshops & Labs
Maintenance & repair of electrical & electronic equipment

Use English in written & oral form
