At the Maritime Academy, Bahir Dar, you can train to become a Marine Technician and obtain a career as an Engine Room Team Member with World-Renowned Commercial Vessel Operators.
The Engine Room Ratings Course
The Ethiopian Maritime Training Institute’s Maritime Academy in Bahir Dar (EMTI) is currently conducting a program to train Level III vocationally qualified mechanics to become Engine Room Ratings. This is a new course. [The Academy already trains selected Ethiopian Mechanical Engineering Graduates as Marine Mechanical Engineers and Electro-Technical Officers in collaboration with the Bahir Dar University]. All graduates are employed by international shipping organizations from around the world.

The Deck Ratings Course
The Ethiopian Maritime Training Institute’s Maritime Academy in Bahir Dar (EMTI) is currently conducting a program to train Ethiopian males with civil engineering, mathematics and physics qualifications to become Deck Ratings. This is a new course. [The Academy already trains Marine Mechanical Engineers, Electro-Technical Officers and Engine Room Ratings in collaboration with the Bahir Dar University]. All graduates of our courses are employed by international shipping organizations from around the world.
