At the Maritime Academy, Bahir Dar, you can train to become a Deck Rating and then follow a career as a Member of the Deck Department with World-Renowned Commercial Vessel Operators.

The Deck Ratings Course

The Ethiopian Maritime Training Institute’s Maritime Academy in Bahir Dar (EMTI) is currently conducting a program to train Ethiopian males with civil engineering, mathematics and physics qualifications to become Deck Ratings. This is a new course. [The Academy already trains Marine Mechanical Engineers, Electro-Technical Officers and Engine Room Ratings in collaboration with the Bahir Dar University]. All graduates of our courses are employed by international shipping organizations from around the world.

Earn career as Marine Officer ( Marine Engineering and Electro – Technical Officer)

The Marine Engineering and Electro – Technical Officer (ETO) Post Graduate Diploma Programs Bahir Dar University Maritime Academy in collaboration with Ethiopian Maritime Training Institute (EMTI).

We are currently searching for excellent Mechanical and Electrical Engineers to join our program.
The ME10 and ETO10 Marine Officers program will start on March 2015 GC. For those who are interested to join the program, you are welcome to apply if you meet the requirements listed below.

Program ER1

The candidates listed under are invited to start the ER1 course at the academy. You must report 16th November 2014 at 7:00 pm (1:00 pm local time) at the Maritime Academy. All the canidates must bring the following items with them.

1. Documents ( deploma , 8th grade examination certificate, kebele ID)
2. Clearance from the previous work
3. Personal staff ( cloth, personal hygiene material)
4. Stationary ( pen, notebook…)
5. Swimming suit
