Recruits Accepted for the next two programmes in Marine Mechanical Engineering
Attached are the lists of those recruits who have been accepted for the next two programmes in Marine Mechanical Engineering [Officer-in-Charge of an Engineering Watch].
- Basic Training for EO17A– starts on 24 October 2016. See call-up instructions below.
- Basic Training for EO17B– starts on 23 January 2017. Instructions will be sent out.
COURSE EO17A – The recruits listed in the document Recruits Selected for Course OE17A are hereby called-up to report to the Academy on the Peda Campus of the University of Bahir Dar from 22 October, but not later than 17:00 on 23 October 2016, for the start of their programme. The first course in the programme is basic training. On successful completion of this course, you will start the 8-month course, Officer-in-Charge of an Engineering Watch, which is the core course of the programme. Basic training consists of the following subjects:
- Elementary first aid
- Fire prevention and fire fighting
- Personal safety and social responsibilities
- [Maritime] survival techniques
Items which will be issued to you on loan. You will be issued overalls and any standard personal gear required for
personal protection during training. Once you have successfully passed basic training you will be issued a uniform.
Items to bring
You are to cater for your personal private clothing. As you will be wearing uniform most of the
time, not much civilian clothes will be necessary. The following are recommended:
- Shirts
- Jeans, or Chinos [no ‘broken clothing’]
- Underwear [at least 5 pairs]
- Night wear [Pajama / Shorts]
- Warm jacket [navy blue or black]
- Handkerchiefs
- Casual shoes
- Rubber-soled sport shoes
- Socks [at least 4 pairs of black socks included]
- Sport gear (shorts, vest, swimming suit).
- Personal Hygiene Products
- Body Wash/Soap
- Shampoo
- Tooth brush
- Tooth paste
- Hand/Face towel
- Bath towels [2]
- Razor / Shaver
- Comb
- Deodorant
General issues
Bring your Kebele identity document with you.
Bring your own stationery (pen and notebook).
You will be required to be clean-shaven during training. Furthermore, arrive at the Academy with a neat, short haircut.
