The first course in the programme is basic training. On successful completion of this course, you will start the 8 month course, OICEW, which is the core course of the programme. Basic training consists of the following subjects:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0a. Elementary first aid<br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0b. Fire prevention and fire fighting<br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0c. Personal safety and social responsibilities<br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0d. [Maritime] survival techniques<\/p>\n<p><strong>Items which will be issued to you on loan.<\/strong> You will be issued overalls and any standard personal gear required for personal protection during training. Once you have successfully passed basic training you will be issued a uniform.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Items to bring<\/strong><br \/>You are to cater for your personal private clothing. As you will be wearing uniform most of the time, not much civilian clothes will be necessary. The following are recommended:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 a. Shirts<br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 b. Jeans, or Chinos [no \u2018broken clothing\u2019]<br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 c. Underwear [at least 5 pairs]<br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 d. Night wear [Pajama \/ Shorts]<br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 e. Warm jacket [navy blue or black]<br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 f. Handkerchiefs<br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 g. Casual shoes<br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 h.
